Shearling mutton can be bought directly from Flexigraze CIC.
There has been a lot of media coverage about the carbon impact of meat production. All our animals are grazed outside on land that is being managed for conservation reasons and is thus not suitable for arable (or other food production). Most of our sheep are born and all are reared in the North East and they are also killed and butchered locally making their carbon impact as low as possible.
Pick up point is at Scotts of Ponteland within the Dobbies Garden Centre. Shearlings are available throughout the year but is only available once a sufficient quantity has been ordered. In this way we are able to offer a premium product at a reasonable price.
Our shearlings are normally a minimum of 18 months old and is usually 2 or more years old making it more mature than that normally bought in supermarkets. This tends to add to the flavour though does need slower and longer to cook in the case of joints.
Half shearlings are available (fully butchered and packed) for £70 while a whole shearling costs £130.
We offer a variety of payment options including regular standing order (to build up funds over a number of months), cheque, direct bank transfer or card payments via Paypal.
If you would like to get further information or be added to our mailing list please complete the form below and submit it. You will then receive an e-mail from us.
Please remember we do not ship meat and it is only available via local collection in Ponteland.
